The People's Democratic Republic of Laos is located in the center of Indochina, sharing borders with China to north west, Thailand to west, Cambodia to the south, and Vietnam to the east.
Laos has a population of a bout 5.5 million people made up of 48 different ethnic groups within an area of 236, 800 square kilometres. Around 70% of its terrain is mountainous reaching a maximum elevation of 2, 820m in Xieng Khouang province. The landscapes of northern Laos and regions adjacent to Vietnam in particular are dominated by hills. The Mekong river is the main geographical feature in the west and informs a natural border with Thailand and some other areas. The Mekong flows through nearly 1, 900km of Laos. In the south the Mekong reaches a breadth of 14km, creating an area with thousands of islands. The capital Vientiane and all other major cities and towns are located on the bank of the Mekong river, while virtually every village depends on the vital bond between the land and water. The first kingdom of Laos is Lane Xang kingdom (the Land of Million Elephants).
Day 1: Vientiane arrival
Upon arrival at Wattay international airport, pick up and transfer to your hotel for checking in.Afternoon visit Wat Sisaket, the oldest temple still standing in Vientiane. Wat Ho Prakeo, once the home of the revered Emerald Buddha. That Luang Stupa, reputed to hold a sacred relic of the Lord Buddha. Pratuxai Victory Gate from which views of the surrounding city can be seen. Overnight in Vientiane.
Day 2: Vientiane - Luang Pra Bang
Breakfast at the hotel. Transfer to the airport for the morning flight to Luang Pra Bang.Boat cruise along the MekongRiverto visit Pak Ou (Tham Ting) cave -a mystical pigrimage site above the river. Over the past five centuries, kings, princes, merchants, and peasants have come to the caves to worship, leaving behind more than 3, 000 statues of the Buddha. Along the way visit Ban Sang Hai where they make traditional sticky rice liquor.Then continue to visit Wat Xieng Thong, Wat Mai, Wat Visoun, Wat Prabath. Overnight in Luang Pra Bang.
Day 3: Luang Pra Bang
Breakfast at the hotel.Visit Khuang Sy falls, visit villages en route.Return to town, visit Santi Chedi Stupa and Banh Phanom village, hill tribe H’Mong village on the way back to Luang Pra Bang.Afternoon visit to the old RoyalPalaceNationalMuseum which was once home to the monarchy of old Laos.Afternoon climb up to PhousiMountainfor a great view of the city and the two rivers for sunset.
Day 4: Luang Pra Bang - Vientiane Departure
Breakfast at hotel.Transfer to airport for flight to Vientiane at 11: 20 then connect with your departure flight.End of services.
